Communications Officer, Trinidad

The Communications Officer participates in the implementation of the corporate communications strategy, as well as in the design, management and implementation of the Country Office communications strategy geared towards influencing the development agenda and promote public and media outreach.

Expected Outcomes
Planning and design of internal and external strategies for communications and outreach focusing on achievement of the following results:
• Conduct of communications needs assessments for CO (projects, country programme and corporate change initiatives).
• Analysis of requirements and synthesis of proposals for elaboration of the CO communications and outreach strategy based on the corporate communications strategy.
• Development/production of communication and advocacy instruments and materials for awareness-raising campaigns, brochures, including briefing materials, press releases and media interviews in coordination with the relevant units.

Communication Officer, Guyana

Under the general guidance of the Representative, responsible for the design, management, and execution of the communication strategy to promote respect for children’s and women’s rights in support of the country programme in Guyana.

MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
• Develops and implements a strategy to place children’s and women’s issues into the public domain, and strengthen political will in support of UNICEF’s mission and objectives, (including communication assessment and analysis, development of a communication plan, strategic use of resources and involvement in key programme processes, especially situation analysis, reviews and evaluations). Monitors and evaluates its impact.
• Develops a media relations strategy and implementation plan close collaboration with mass media, individuals, groups and organisations whose support is essential to the achievement of advocacy and communication objectives. Organising visits to project sites, facilitating photo coverage and TV footage, utilising both web-based and traditional media when appropriate to generate and maintain public interest in children’s and women’s issues, and tell the story of UNICEF’s cooperation to a wider audience.

HIV/Aids Programme Officer, Jamaica

Under the general guidance of Resident Coordinator(RC)/Representative (RR) and Deputy Resident Representative (DRR), UNDP Jamaica, and the direct supervision of the Assistant Resident Representative (P), UNDP Jamaica, the HIV/AIDS Programme Officer is responsible for a) implementation of UNDP Jamaica HIV/AIDS programme; b) coordination with other UN agencies in Jamaica as UNDP focal point for HIV/AIDS, particularly in close consultation with the UNAIDS Jamaica; and c) mobilization of resources for the programme developed.

The Officer works in close collaboration with the operations team, programme staff in other UN Agencies, UNDP HQs staff and Government officials, technical advisors and experts, multi-lateral and bi-lateral donors and civil society ensuring successful UNDP programme formulation, implementation and resource mobilization.
