Main responsibilities include:

v

Records information in the Prison diary on a daily basis.

v

Assists in the admission process of prisoners.

v

Locks and unlocks prisoners’ cells at prescribed times.

v

Supervises the prisoners’ daily bath, meals service, and exercise routines, and ensures that proper hygienic procedures are adhered to.

v

Searches cells on a daily basis, and conducts searches on prisoners as required, and documents reports accordingly.

v

Supervises all prisoners while on the cells block, monitors their movements to and from the kitchen, and monitors their activities while in the recreation area, workshop, and while they are on and off the compound, as necessary.

v

Observes and counts prisoners on work site every 15 minutes and reports the count to Supervisor every hour. Locks gates at the prescribed time.

v

Inspects all prisoners prior to leaving the Prison’s compound for community appointments.

v

Performs hourly checks of the Prison’s perimeter fencing.

v

Participates in maintaining order and discipline among prisoners.

v

Provides writing supplies to prisoners and assists them with writing letters.

v

Participates in all on-the-job training and development activities.

Requirements:

v

Participates in all on-the-job training and development activities.

v

High School Diploma or equivalent

v

Training in Restraint and Control a plus, but not a must

v

At least two to five (2-5) years related experience

v

Current Police Record

v

Sound interpersonal, oral and written skills

v

Good mathematical skills

v

Ability to work a shift system

Salary:

v

Entry level $22,770 – $25,594 annually, Grade 6 commensurate with qualifications and relevant experience


Appointment:

v

Subject to passing Prison Officer Entrance Exam

v

Permanent and pensionable establishment

v

Subject to medical fitness; One-year probationary period
