Communications Officer, Trinidad

The Communications Officer participates in the implementation of the corporate communications strategy, as well as in the design, management and implementation of the Country Office communications strategy geared towards influencing the development agenda and promote public and media outreach.

Expected Outcomes
Planning and design of internal and external strategies for communications and outreach focusing on achievement of the following results:
• Conduct of communications needs assessments for CO (projects, country programme and corporate change initiatives).
• Analysis of requirements and synthesis of proposals for elaboration of the CO communications and outreach strategy based on the corporate communications strategy.
• Development/production of communication and advocacy instruments and materials for awareness-raising campaigns, brochures, including briefing materials, press releases and media interviews in coordination with the relevant units.

Under the general guidance of the Representative, responsible for the design, management, and execution of the communication strategy to promote respect for children’s and women’s rights in support of the country programme in Guyana.

MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
• Develops and implements a strategy to place children’s and women’s issues into the public domain, and strengthen political will in support of UNICEF’s mission and objectives, (including communication assessment and analysis, development of a communication plan, strategic use of resources and involvement in key programme processes, especially situation analysis, reviews and evaluations). Monitors and evaluates its impact.
• Develops a media relations strategy and implementation plan close collaboration with mass media, individuals, groups and organisations whose support is essential to the achievement of advocacy and communication objectives. Organising visits to project sites, facilitating photo coverage and TV footage, utilising both web-based and traditional media when appropriate to generate and maintain public interest in children’s and women’s issues, and tell the story of UNICEF’s cooperation to a wider audience.

To understand the business needs of the SEW and develop/refine plans for effective change management and enhance adoption of the SEW services.

Key Duties and Responsibilities
• Works with the technical teams to gather, validate and evaluate SEW product/market requirements through market and customer research and product research.
• Drives development and implementation of integrated marketing plan (PR, Direct Mail, Seminars & Events etc) supported by business case with the objective of strengthening the awareness of SEW.
• Develops and drive marketing plans that will enhance user adoption of the SEW.
• Co-ordinates & arranges seminars and trainings for various stakeholders.
• Gathers and analyses data related to users, user sign up rate, issues, etc related to the SEW to identify trends and takes necessary corrective action.
• Develops user specific tactical campaigns that are designed to support adoption and customer retention.
• Manages the marketing communication budget in a way to maximize the return on funds invested.
• Any other duties as and when assigned.
