CaribbeanJobsOnline.com and Numusiczone.com join forces

Two of the Caribbean’s foremost internet sites have joined forces in an effort to increase their outreach and visibility among its key constituents. The moves come as many businesses throughout the region grapple with the unpredictability of the global economy.

The collaboration is also timely, as Caribbean nationals return to their respective homes ahead and for the regions festive season. Felix Augustine and Malcolm Letang who met to make the announcement of www.caribbeanjobsonline.com and www.numusiczone.com both pledge to give Caribbean nationals the one stop shop in music and job search. For too long, persons seeking jobs and music from the region have been disenfranchised by the complexities involved in obtaining the both, the duo indicated.

www.caribbeanjobsonline.com with a registered data base of over 22,000 job seekers was launched in 2006. The site was established to meet the needs of Caribbean recruiters and Job seekers and to eliminate poor job matching due to lack of information or other obstacles in the job search/hiring processes that inhibit employers and workers from finding each other. Founder, Malcolm Letang, says www.caribbeanjobsonline.com is a manifestation of his life’s long dream of making and exposing job opportunities within the region to as many people as possible. Since the introduction of the site countless number of Caribbean nationals has found employment that they otherwise would not have been exposed to.

www.numusiczone.com is by far one of the most popular internet sites catering for Caribbean music. Felix Augustine of numusiczone, says the merger puts two very important areas of Caribbean livelihood within close proximity of the masses. www.numusiczone.com is a one stop shop for all genres of Caribbean music. The site currently boasts over 800 individual artists and over 20 000 songs in its ever growing catalogue. Numusiczone’s mission is to deliver authentic Caribbean music to the masses. However, we would like to achieve this goal in a different way by letting the musicians and artists themselves post their music online. This gives them a chance to sell their music and create a viable revenue stream without waiting for that record deal that so often never comes. This website provides the distribution channel necessary to buy and sell authentic Caribbean music

Caribbean Career Network Launched

Jamaica’s “The JobBank” and St. Vincent’s “Caribbean Jobs Online,” have joined forces to launch a Caribbean Career Network – caribbeanjobsonline.com.

The service is designed to facilitate Caribbean recruiters and job seekers in making the perfect match.

According to Dr. Leahcim Semaj, Partner of caribbeanjobsonline.com and Chief Executive Officer of The JobBank “both recruiters and job seekers stand to benefit from being able to access more information about each other based on what can be made readily available via the Internet”.

Noting that the use of the Internet as a job search tool is increasing daily in the Caribbean, Dr. Semaj said that in Jamaica this is evidenced by the number of advertisers in the Sunday papers that now include website addresses and email as an option for submitting applications. This is not surprising as this is the trend in the US. According to staffing.org, a US based non-profit entity in its 2004 Report, “98% of all job seekers are now using the Internet to look for a new job.”

Dr. Semaj warned that as this trend strengthened regionally, those who did not include the Internet in their job search or recruitment strategies would run the risk of failing to gain access to the best jobs or best qualified candidates.

Caribbeanjobsonline.com features postings for vacancies in all industries, at all career levels across the Caribbean and according to Dr. Semaj, “saves time, reduces recruiting costs and increases their reach to qualified candidates.”

Employers posting vacancies on the network qualify for a free Profile Page and this Dr. Semaj said “can dramatically increase the number and quality of responses to postings.”

In addition, job seekers receive free professional career advice on writing cover letters, resumes, interview techniques and networking. Caribbeanjobsonline.com through Job By Email, allows for jobs to be delivered into the inbox of subscribers immediately as they are posted.

The launch of Caribbean Jobs Online is seen as a triumph for the architects of the Caribbean Single Market & Economy (CSME) as it helps deepen the integration movement and better prepare the Caribbean to respond to the challenges and opportunities posed by globalization.

With the CSME providing for the free movement of skilled labour anywhere in the Caribbean Community, Dr. Semaj said, “Caribbeanjobsonline.com will prove invaluable in helping employers and workers find each other in the region”.
