Our client, a medium-sized law firm with international reach, is looking for a forward-thinking, commercially astute Attorney-at-Law to manage their Kingston office providing leadership, synergy and strategic direction.

The Role
The clientele includes companies in all sectors in Jamaica and abroad with a correspondingly varied portfolio of assignments.

The main focus of the Salaried Partner is to:
•Lead the progressive expansion of client portfolios managing and organizing the office to deliver consistent, technically excellent work product, promptly and cost effectively while observing the limits for risk exposure.
•Ensure that client needs are met in an appropriately responsive manner.
•Demonstrate a mature and vigilant attitude to cost control, risk management and reporting.

Preferred Profile
•Call to the Bar in Jamaica, with at least 10 years professional experience who has worked at a senior level in a law firm and a profile that demonstrates a good appreciation of the practice areas of corporate and commercial law, financing capital markets and incorporation in order to contribute to the business as a whole.
•Call to the Bar in other Caribbean jurisdictions would be an asset
•Strong and rounded people management skills, to be able to stretch and develop the team, extract high performance and cultivate an infrastructure of support.
•Professional presence, a positive and innovative thinker, a confident communicator with excellent conceptual and listening skills, and possessing the ability to interact credibly and comfortably at all levels.

Legal Counsel, Jamaica

Key Responsibilities
• provide legal services to companies within the Group comprising the Corporate, GK Foods and GK Financial Group divisions
• advise on legal trends and new legislation which affect the Group
• advise on compliance issues affecting the Financial Services companies
• provide corporate secretarial services to assigned Group companies as may be required.

Qualifications
• Applicants should be qualified as an attorney-at-law entitled to practice in Jamaica with at least ten (10) years experience, at least three of which should be in commercial law.
• Experience in intellectual property, banking, insurance, securities and taxation laws, mergers and acquisitions would be an asset.
