Reporting directly to the Senior Manager II, Accounting and Financial Operations, the appointee will be responsible for the purchasing, payables, cheque processing and fixed assets activities for all the UWI Centre Departments. In addition, the incumbent will assist in the preparation of Financial Statements for the University Centre, as well as the Consolidated Financial Statements of the University of the West Indies for the quarterly meetings of the University Finance and General Purposes Committee (UFGPC), the external audit and the annual Business Meeting of University Council.

Desired qualifications and experience:
Ø A certified or Chartered Accountant certification
Ø A university degree majoring in Accounting
Ø A minimum of three (3) years accounting experience at the supervisory level

Skills required of the Manager II – Accounting and Financial Operations:
Ø Good understanding of computerized accounting systems
Ø Some knowledge of management principles and practices
Ø Strong problem solving and analytical skills
Ø Proven communication (written & verbal) and excellent interpersonal skills

The ideal candidate should be a dynamic leader with an understanding of current issues in academic librarianship and a clear vision of the Library as a knowledge centre. The appointee is expected to develop the University’s Library Network and participate in decision making at the Campus Management level.

The ideal candidate must possess:

* Strong management skills and the ability to provide effective leadership for a team of professional and support staff in the Library;
* Working experience of current and emerging trends in ICT technologies which impact on the provision of modern Library services.
* Experience promoting Library services in various forum.
* Knowledge of technological advances and demonstrated capacity to develop and implement innovative strategies to enhance services provided by the University Library;
* Proven communication and interpersonal skills.

QUALIFICATION & EXPERIENCE

* Applicants should have an accredited MLS degree or equivalent. A second degree at the doctoral level would be an advantage;
* A minimum of seven (7) years of progressively responsible administrative experience in an academic or research library;
* A strong record of distinguished publications;
* Evidence of scholarly/professional activity or other distinguished contribution to the field of Library/Information Science would be an asset.
